I bought this book to learn crocheting as a hobby, and I must say I am thoroughly engaged. It has been a great learning experience to understand what kind of yarn to buy exactly, how to work with the hook and what kind of basic stiches to make. I love the step by step instructions the author gives on building elaborate patterns with granny squares. The book features a few demo links from YouTube for reference and gives plenty of ideas to play with. I am currently mastering two treble stitches!
This book was a huge disappointment. I bought this as a gift for a friend who has never crochet before. There are only two illustrations in the whole book; one showing the top of a chain, and another showing how to increase/decrease. Without using other resources it would be near impossible for a beginner to understand the descriptions given. Please consider carefully before purchasing. I had chose it because of the good reviews and the price. In reality there are lots of other books out there much better than this that will show you step by step how to crochet.

Book was written to follow video instruction or photos but none were in the book . NO reference to any video review. Book specifically mentions illustrations but none in book.

This was absolutely no help. Illustrations were missing and directions (when they were found) were minimal.
